Choosing aluminium roller shutters for premises in Canning Town

Extruded aluminium laths are solid profiles that are stronger and more resistant to forced entry than roll-formed laths. Aluminium laths take powder coating well, so they can be finished in almost any RAL colour.

Aluminium does not rust, so it suits coastal towns and exposed frontages. For higher-risk sites, extruded aluminium or galvanised steel is usually preferred to foam-filled laths.

What's included

  • Solid, perforated or vision laths
  • Roll-formed foam-filled or extruded aluminium laths
  • Manual or electric operation
  • Powder coated to a RAL colour
  • Quieter running than steel
  • Lighter curtain for less wear on motors and springs

Where we work around Canning Town

Jobs in Canning Town are planned as part of our Greater London coverage, and visits can be combined with jobs in nearby Stratford (London), Bow and Canary Wharf. Planning rules are those of your local council in England.

Rules in England

Planning permission for shopfront shutters

In England an external shutter on a shopfront is usually treated as development that needs planning permission from the local planning authority, and a listed building also needs listed building consent. Many councils' shopfront design guides favour internal shutters, perforated or open-grille designs and boxes hidden behind the fascia, and some refuse solid external shutters in conservation areas and on main shopping streets.

Questions about aluminium roller shutters in Canning Town

Do you cover Canning Town?

Yes. Send the postcode and we will arrange a survey in Canning Town. We also cover nearby Stratford (London), Bow and Canary Wharf.

Is aluminium strong enough for a shop?

For most shops and offices, yes, especially extruded aluminium laths. For high-risk premises, galvanised steel or a rated shutter may be recommended.

Will an aluminium shutter dent?

Foam-filled laths can dent under a heavy impact. Extruded aluminium resists denting far better, and damaged laths can be replaced individually.

Do aluminium shutters corrode by the sea?

Aluminium does not rust like steel, and a powder-coated finish adds protection, which makes it a good choice for coastal frontages.

Who carries out the work?

Work is carried out by experienced shutter engineers working for S&K Property Investments and Improvement Ltd, which is the company your contract is with.

Do you work with landlords and managing agents?

Yes. We quote, fit and service shutters for landlords, managing agents and facilities teams, including multi-site planned maintenance.
