Choosing aluminium roller shutters for premises in Heywood

Foam-filled laths reduce noise and add a little insulation compared with single-skin metal. Aluminium curtains roll up tighter than steel, so the shutter box can often be smaller.

Roll-formed aluminium laths are two skins of aluminium with an insulating foam core, which keeps them light. Aluminium laths take powder coating well, so they can be finished in almost any RAL colour.

Features to choose from

  • Solid, perforated or vision laths
  • Manual or electric operation
  • Smaller shutter box than steel
  • Roll-formed foam-filled or extruded aluminium laths
  • Powder coated to a RAL colour
  • Lighter curtain for less wear on motors and springs

Rules in England

Electrical work

Electric shutters are wired to BS 7671, the IET Wiring Regulations. In homes in England, new circuits are notifiable under Part P of the Building Regulations, so the work is done by a registered electrician who can self-certify it, or notified to building control.

How it works

  1. Send the details

Give us the postcode, approximate width and height, and what the shutter is protecting.

  2. We survey the opening

An engineer measures and checks the fixings, power and any planning constraints.

  3. You approve a fixed price

The quote lists the specification and price in writing, so there are no surprises.

  4. We fit and commission

Your shutter is installed, tested and handed over with instructions and paperwork.

Your questions answered

Do you cover Heywood?

Yes. Send the postcode and we will arrange a survey in Heywood. We also cover nearby Middleton, Rochdale and Bury.

Do aluminium shutters corrode by the sea?

Aluminium does not rust like steel, and a powder-coated finish adds protection, which makes it a good choice for coastal frontages.

Will an aluminium shutter dent?

Foam-filled laths can dent under a heavy impact. Extruded aluminium resists denting far better, and damaged laths can be replaced individually.

What is the difference between roll-formed and extruded aluminium?

Roll-formed laths are two thin skins with a foam core, which is light and insulating. Extruded laths are solid profiles, which are heavier and much stronger.

Is the survey free?

Yes, for new shutters, grilles and doors: the survey and written quote are free and there is no obligation to go ahead. Repair and servicing visits are charged, and we tell you the price before we visit.

Are your prices fixed?

Yes. After the survey you get a written price for the agreed specification, confirmed before anything is ordered or any work starts. If you change the specification, or a hidden problem such as a weak lintel is found during fitting, we price it and agree it with you before carrying on.
