Aluminium roller shutters in Morecambe: the essentials

Extruded aluminium laths are solid profiles that are stronger and more resistant to forced entry than roll-formed laths. A lighter curtain puts less strain on the motor, springs and barrel, which helps the shutter last.

For higher-risk sites, extruded aluminium or galvanised steel is usually preferred to foam-filled laths. Aluminium laths take powder coating well, so they can be finished in almost any RAL colour.

Specification options

  • No rust, suited to coastal and exposed sites
  • Manual or electric operation
  • Roll-formed foam-filled or extruded aluminium laths
  • Smaller shutter box than steel
  • Lighter curtain for less wear on motors and springs
  • Solid, perforated or vision laths

Rules in England

Electrical work

Electric shutters are wired to BS 7671, the IET Wiring Regulations. In homes in England, new circuits are notifiable under Part P of the Building Regulations, so the work is done by a registered electrician who can self-certify it, or notified to building control.

Questions about aluminium roller shutters in Morecambe

Do you cover Morecambe?

Yes. We survey, fit and repair aluminium roller shutters in Morecambe and the LA4 district, as part of our coverage across Lancashire.

Is aluminium strong enough for a shop?

For most shops and offices, yes, especially extruded aluminium laths. For high-risk premises, galvanised steel or a rated shutter may be recommended.

Do aluminium shutters corrode by the sea?

Aluminium does not rust like steel, and a powder-coated finish adds protection, which makes it a good choice for coastal frontages.

Will an aluminium shutter dent?

Foam-filled laths can dent under a heavy impact. Extruded aluminium resists denting far better, and damaged laths can be replaced individually.

Do your guide prices include VAT?

Guide prices are shown both excluding VAT and including VAT at the standard rate of 20%. For a home, the price including VAT is what you pay.

What warranty do I get?

Products carry the manufacturer's warranty, and the warranty for your shutter is set out in your quote.
