What to know about aluminium roller shutters in Kettering

Perforated aluminium laths are available for frontages where the display needs to stay visible. Aluminium is the usual choice for domestic shutters and garage roller doors.

Aluminium laths take powder coating well, so they can be finished in almost any RAL colour. A lighter curtain puts less strain on the motor, springs and barrel, which helps the shutter last.

Features to choose from

  • Powder coated to a RAL colour
  • Smaller shutter box than steel
  • Quieter running than steel
  • Roll-formed foam-filled or extruded aluminium laths
  • No rust, suited to coastal and exposed sites
  • Lighter curtain for less wear on motors and springs

Rules in England

Electrical work

Electric shutters are wired to BS 7671, the IET Wiring Regulations. In homes in England, new circuits are notifiable under Part P of the Building Regulations, so the work is done by a registered electrician who can self-certify it, or notified to building control.

Before you book in Kettering

Do you cover Kettering?

Yes. Kettering (NN16) is within our Northamptonshire coverage, along with nearby Wellingborough, Corby and Rushden.

Do aluminium shutters corrode by the sea?

Aluminium does not rust like steel, and a powder-coated finish adds protection, which makes it a good choice for coastal frontages.

Is aluminium strong enough for a shop?

For most shops and offices, yes, especially extruded aluminium laths. For high-risk premises, galvanised steel or a rated shutter may be recommended.

Will an aluminium shutter dent?

Foam-filled laths can dent under a heavy impact. Extruded aluminium resists denting far better, and damaged laths can be replaced individually.

Is the survey free?

Yes, for new shutters, grilles and doors: the survey and written quote are free and there is no obligation to go ahead. Repair and servicing visits are charged, and we tell you the price before we visit.

Can I get a quote from photos?

Photos and approximate sizes let us give you a guide price quickly. A survey is still needed before a shutter is made, because it is built to exact measurements.
