What to know about fire shutters in Welshpool
Escape routes and the effect of the shutter closing are checked against the fire strategy before ordering. Fire shutters are common in kitchens, serveries, plant rooms, warehouses and openings between compartments.
Product certification and test evidence come from the manufacturer, and we provide the documentation with the shutter. A fire shutter that sticks or closes too slowly may not protect the opening, which is why drop tests matter.
What's included
- Fire resistance from 60 to 240 minutes, product dependent
- Commissioning and drop test on handover
- Planned servicing to keep it compliant
- Manufacturer's test evidence and certification
- Governed closing speed for safety
- Alarm-linked closing with fusible link backup

Rules in Wales

Your questions answered
Do you cover Welshpool?
Yes. Welshpool (SY21) is within our Powys coverage, along with nearby Rhosllannerchrugog.
Do you certify fire shutters?
The fire rating belongs to the manufacturer's tested product. We supply certified shutters with their documentation and install them to the manufacturer's instructions.
What rating do I need?
The rating must match the fire-resisting wall the shutter is in, which is set by the building's fire strategy or fire risk assessment. We work from that, or from your fire engineer's specification.
Will a fire shutter close in a power cut?
Fire shutters are designed to close on loss of power or on a fire signal, usually by gravity with a governed speed, so they fail safe.
Do you work with landlords and managing agents?
Yes. We quote, fit and service shutters for landlords, managing agents and facilities teams, including multi-site planned maintenance.
Is the survey free?
Yes, for new shutters, grilles and doors: the survey and written quote are free and there is no obligation to go ahead. Repair and servicing visits are charged, and we tell you the price before we visit.
