Choosing fire shutters for premises in Bloxwich
Escape routes and the effect of the shutter closing are checked against the fire strategy before ordering. They are usually linked to the fire alarm, and many also have a fusible link that releases the curtain in heat.
Product certification and test evidence come from the manufacturer, and we provide the documentation with the shutter. Fail-safe or gravity-closing designs let the curtain descend even if the power fails during a fire.
Options we can specify
- Fail-safe or gravity closing on power loss
- Alarm-linked closing with fusible link backup
- Governed closing speed for safety
- Fire resistance from 60 to 240 minutes, product dependent
- Manufacturer's test evidence and certification
- Commissioning and drop test on handover

Rules in England
Fire safety law and fire shutters
In England fire shutters form part of a building's fire precautions under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. The responsible person must keep them maintained in efficient working order and good repair, which in practice means regular drop testing with written records.

Before you book in Bloxwich
Do you cover Bloxwich?
Yes. We survey, fit and repair fire shutters in Bloxwich and the WS3 district, as part of our coverage across West Midlands.
What rating do I need?
The rating must match the fire-resisting wall the shutter is in, which is set by the building's fire strategy or fire risk assessment. We work from that, or from your fire engineer's specification.
Do you certify fire shutters?
The fire rating belongs to the manufacturer's tested product. We supply certified shutters with their documentation and install them to the manufacturer's instructions.
Will a fire shutter close in a power cut?
Fire shutters are designed to close on loss of power or on a fire signal, usually by gravity with a governed speed, so they fail safe.
What warranty do I get?
Products carry the manufacturer's warranty, and the warranty for your shutter is set out in your quote.
What details help you quote quickly?
The postcode, the approximate width and height of the opening, whether you want manual or electric operation, and a photo of the frontage.
