Choosing fire shutters for premises in Evesham
They are usually linked to the fire alarm, and many also have a fusible link that releases the curtain in heat. Fire shutters are common in kitchens, serveries, plant rooms, warehouses and openings between compartments.
Counter-height fire shutters protect serving hatches and kitchen pass-throughs. Fail-safe or gravity-closing designs let the curtain descend even if the power fails during a fire.
Specification options
- Fail-safe or gravity closing on power loss
- Counter, hatch and large-opening versions
- Governed closing speed for safety
- Commissioning and drop test on handover
- Manufacturer's test evidence and certification
- Fire resistance from 60 to 240 minutes, product dependent

Rules in England
Safety of powered shutters
Powered doors and shutters are treated as machinery. The installer commissions them with a risk assessment, safety devices where the risk calls for them and force checks to BS EN 12453, then hands over a declaration of conformity and maintenance instructions. In workplaces, the employer or whoever controls the premises must keep doors maintained and safe for staff and visitors.

Your questions answered
Do you cover Evesham?
Yes. Evesham (WR11) is within our Worcestershire coverage, along with nearby Tewkesbury, Stratford-upon-Avon and Cheltenham.
Will a fire shutter close in a power cut?
Fire shutters are designed to close on loss of power or on a fire signal, usually by gravity with a governed speed, so they fail safe.
Do you certify fire shutters?
The fire rating belongs to the manufacturer's tested product. We supply certified shutters with their documentation and install them to the manufacturer's instructions.
What rating do I need?
The rating must match the fire-resisting wall the shutter is in, which is set by the building's fire strategy or fire risk assessment. We work from that, or from your fire engineer's specification.
What details help you quote quickly?
The postcode, the approximate width and height of the opening, whether you want manual or electric operation, and a photo of the frontage.
How long does it take from order to fitting?
Shutters are made to measure after the survey, so the lead time depends on the product, colour and any security rating. We confirm it in your quote.
