Choosing garage roller doors for premises in Blackheath

Roller doors can be fitted behind the opening, in the opening or on the face, depending on the space above. A manual override lets you open the door from inside in a power cut.

Domestic garage doors are covered by the same powered door safety standard as commercial doors. Safety edges and obstacle detection stop the door on contact, which matters where children or pets are around.

Specification options

  • Fitted behind, in or on the face of the opening
  • Replaces up-and-over doors
  • Colour and woodgrain finishes
  • Insulated foam-filled aluminium laths
  • Manual override for power cuts
  • Safety edge and obstacle detection

Rules in England

Safety of powered shutters

Powered doors and shutters are treated as machinery. The installer commissions them with a risk assessment, safety devices where the risk calls for them and force checks to BS EN 12453, then hands over a declaration of conformity and maintenance instructions. In workplaces, the employer or whoever controls the premises must keep doors maintained and safe for staff and visitors.

Your questions answered

Do you cover Blackheath?

Yes. We survey, fit and repair garage roller doors in Blackheath and the SE3 district, as part of our coverage across Greater London.

What safety features do garage roller doors have?

Electric doors should stop and reverse on contact, using a safety edge or obstacle detection, and have a manual override for power cuts.

How much headroom does a roller garage door need?

The box needs some space above the opening inside or outside the garage. Exact clearance depends on the door height and curtain, so we measure it at survey.

Can a roller door replace my up-and-over door?

Yes, usually without changing the opening. We check the headroom and side space at survey to choose the right fixing position.

What warranty do I get?

Products carry the manufacturer's warranty, and the warranty for your shutter is set out in your quote.

Are your prices fixed?

Yes. After the survey you get a written price for the agreed specification, confirmed before anything is ordered or any work starts. If you change the specification, or a hidden problem such as a weak lintel is found during fitting, we price it and agree it with you before carrying on.
