High-speed doors in Colchester: the essentials
They are designed for very high numbers of cycles a day, which a standard roller shutter is not. Food, pharmaceutical and cold-store sites use them to keep zones separate.
Light curtains in the frame stop the curtain closing if anything is in the opening. Radar, induction loops and pull cords open the door automatically as traffic approaches.
Specification options
- Internal, external and cold-store versions
- Radar, loop, pull-cord and push-button activation
- High daily cycle rating
- Fast-acting PVC fabric curtain
- Light curtain safety protection
- Vision strips for safe traffic flow

Rules in England

Questions about high-speed doors in Colchester
Do you cover Colchester?
Yes. Colchester (CO1) is within our Essex coverage, along with nearby Sudbury, Clacton-on-Sea and Witham.
How fast do they open?
High-speed doors open in a few seconds, much faster than a roller shutter. The exact speed depends on the model and size.
Is a high-speed door secure?
Not on its own. The fabric curtain is for traffic and environmental control, so it is often paired with a roller shutter that closes out of hours.
What happens if a forklift hits the curtain?
On many models the curtain pops out of its guides and re-feeds itself on the next cycle, which avoids the damage a steel shutter would suffer.
Can I get a quote from photos?
Photos and approximate sizes let us give you a guide price quickly. A survey is still needed before a shutter is made, because it is built to exact measurements.
Who carries out the work?
Work is carried out by experienced shutter engineers working for S&K Property Investments and Improvement Ltd, which is the company your contract is with.
