What to know about high-speed doors in Rickmansworth

They are designed for very high numbers of cycles a day, which a standard roller shutter is not. Light curtains in the frame stop the curtain closing if anything is in the opening.

High-speed doors are often fitted inside an insulated roller shutter, which provides security out of hours. Food, pharmaceutical and cold-store sites use them to keep zones separate.

Options we can specify

  • Internal, external and cold-store versions
  • Self-repairing curtain on many models
  • Fast-acting PVC fabric curtain
  • Light curtain safety protection
  • High daily cycle rating
  • Radar, loop, pull-cord and push-button activation

Rules in England

Safety of powered shutters

Powered doors and shutters are treated as machinery. The installer commissions them with a risk assessment, safety devices where the risk calls for them and force checks to BS EN 12453, then hands over a declaration of conformity and maintenance instructions. In workplaces, the employer or whoever controls the premises must keep doors maintained and safe for staff and visitors.

How it works

  1. Tell us about the opening

Send the postcode, a rough size and a photo if you have one, using the form or a call.

  2. Free survey

We measure, check the structure, power supply and planning position, and talk through options.

  3. Written fixed price

You get a written quote with the product, finish, controls and price before anything is ordered.

  4. Made, fitted and handed over

The shutter is made to measure, fitted, commissioned and handed over with its documents.

Questions about high-speed doors in Rickmansworth

Do you cover Rickmansworth?

Yes. Rickmansworth (WD3) is within our Hertfordshire coverage, along with nearby Chalfont St Peter, Gerrards Cross and Bushey.

Is a high-speed door secure?

Not on its own. The fabric curtain is for traffic and environmental control, so it is often paired with a roller shutter that closes out of hours.

What happens if a forklift hits the curtain?

On many models the curtain pops out of its guides and re-feeds itself on the next cycle, which avoids the damage a steel shutter would suffer.

How fast do they open?

High-speed doors open in a few seconds, much faster than a roller shutter. The exact speed depends on the model and size.

Are your prices fixed?

Yes. After the survey you get a written price for the agreed specification, confirmed before anything is ordered or any work starts. If you change the specification, or a hidden problem such as a weak lintel is found during fitting, we price it and agree it with you before carrying on.

Do you repair shutters fitted by other companies?

Yes. We repair and service most makes of roller shutter, grille and industrial door, whoever fitted them.
