High-speed doors in Wallasey: the essentials

The fabric curtain can be pushed out of its guides by an impact and re-inserted automatically on many models, reducing damage. High-speed doors open and close much faster than roller shutters, so the opening spends less time open.

Food, pharmaceutical and cold-store sites use them to keep zones separate. Light curtains in the frame stop the curtain closing if anything is in the opening.

What's included

  • Vision strips for safe traffic flow
  • Pairs with a roller shutter for security
  • Radar, loop, pull-cord and push-button activation
  • Internal, external and cold-store versions
  • High daily cycle rating
  • Light curtain safety protection

Rules in England

Safety of powered shutters

Powered doors and shutters are treated as machinery. The installer commissions them with a risk assessment, safety devices where the risk calls for them and force checks to BS EN 12453, then hands over a declaration of conformity and maintenance instructions. In workplaces, the employer or whoever controls the premises must keep doors maintained and safe for staff and visitors.

How it works

  1. Send the details

Give us the postcode, approximate width and height, and what the shutter is protecting.

  2. We survey the opening

An engineer measures and checks the fixings, power and any planning constraints.

  3. You approve a fixed price

The quote lists the specification and price in writing, so there are no surprises.

  4. We fit and commission

Your shutter is installed, tested and handed over with instructions and paperwork.

Your questions answered

Do you cover Wallasey?

Yes. Send the postcode and we will arrange a survey in Wallasey. We also cover nearby Birkenhead, Bootle and Litherland.

How fast do they open?

High-speed doors open in a few seconds, much faster than a roller shutter. The exact speed depends on the model and size.

Do high-speed doors save energy?

They reduce the time an opening stands open, which cuts heat loss and draughts on busy doors.

What happens if a forklift hits the curtain?

On many models the curtain pops out of its guides and re-feeds itself on the next cycle, which avoids the damage a steel shutter would suffer.

What details help you quote quickly?

The postcode, the approximate width and height of the opening, whether you want manual or electric operation, and a photo of the frontage.

Is the survey free?

Yes, for new shutters, grilles and doors: the survey and written quote are free and there is no obligation to go ahead. Repair and servicing visits are charged, and we tell you the price before we visit.
