What to know about high-speed doors in Selby

Vision strips in the curtain let drivers and pedestrians see what is on the other side. Regular servicing keeps the sensors and safety devices working correctly on such a busy door.

Food, pharmaceutical and cold-store sites use them to keep zones separate. The fabric curtain can be pushed out of its guides by an impact and re-inserted automatically on many models, reducing damage.

Features to choose from

  • Light curtain safety protection
  • Internal, external and cold-store versions
  • Fast-acting PVC fabric curtain
  • Self-repairing curtain on many models
  • High daily cycle rating
  • Radar, loop, pull-cord and push-button activation

Rules in England

Safety of powered shutters

Powered doors and shutters are treated as machinery. The installer commissions them with a risk assessment, safety devices where the risk calls for them and force checks to BS EN 12453, then hands over a declaration of conformity and maintenance instructions. In workplaces, the employer or whoever controls the premises must keep doors maintained and safe for staff and visitors.

How it works

  1. Tell us about the opening

Send the postcode, a rough size and a photo if you have one, using the form or a call.

  2. Free survey

We measure, check the structure, power supply and planning position, and talk through options.

  3. Written fixed price

You get a written quote with the product, finish, controls and price before anything is ordered.

The shutter is made to measure, fitted, commissioned and handed over with its documents.

Before you book in Selby

Do you cover Selby?

Yes. Send the postcode and we will arrange a survey in Selby. We also cover nearby Goole, Pontefract and Castleford.

Do high-speed doors save energy?

They reduce the time an opening stands open, which cuts heat loss and draughts on busy doors.

Is a high-speed door secure?

Not on its own. The fabric curtain is for traffic and environmental control, so it is often paired with a roller shutter that closes out of hours.

How fast do they open?

High-speed doors open in a few seconds, much faster than a roller shutter. The exact speed depends on the model and size.

What warranty do I get?

Products carry the manufacturer's warranty, and the warranty for your shutter is set out in your quote.

Is the survey free?

Yes, for new shutters, grilles and doors: the survey and written quote are free and there is no obligation to go ahead. Repair and servicing visits are charged, and we tell you the price before we visit.
