What to know about high-speed doors in Hucknall

Vision strips in the curtain let drivers and pedestrians see what is on the other side. Food, pharmaceutical and cold-store sites use them to keep zones separate.

High-speed doors open and close much faster than roller shutters, so the opening spends less time open. Light curtains in the frame stop the curtain closing if anything is in the opening.

Specification options

  • Radar, loop, pull-cord and push-button activation
  • Internal, external and cold-store versions
  • Vision strips for safe traffic flow
  • Fast-acting PVC fabric curtain
  • Light curtain safety protection
  • High daily cycle rating

Rules in England

Safety of powered shutters

Powered doors and shutters are treated as machinery. The installer commissions them with a risk assessment, safety devices where the risk calls for them and force checks to BS EN 12453, then hands over a declaration of conformity and maintenance instructions. In workplaces, the employer or whoever controls the premises must keep doors maintained and safe for staff and visitors.

How it works

  1. Tell us about the opening

Send the postcode, a rough size and a photo if you have one, using the form or a call.

  3. Written fixed price

High-speed doors: common questions

Do you cover Hucknall?

Yes. Send the postcode and we will arrange a survey in Hucknall. We also cover nearby Arnold, Kirkby in Ashfield and Ilkeston.

What happens if a forklift hits the curtain?

On many models the curtain pops out of its guides and re-feeds itself on the next cycle, which avoids the damage a steel shutter would suffer.

Is a high-speed door secure?

Not on its own. The fabric curtain is for traffic and environmental control, so it is often paired with a roller shutter that closes out of hours.

How fast do they open?

High-speed doors open in a few seconds, much faster than a roller shutter. The exact speed depends on the model and size.

Do your guide prices include VAT?

Guide prices are shown both excluding VAT and including VAT at the standard rate of 20%. For a home, the price including VAT is what you pay.

Who carries out the work?

Work is carried out by experienced shutter engineers working for S&K Property Investments and Improvement Ltd, which is the company your contract is with.
