Choosing industrial roller shutter doors for premises in Bideford

Industrial doors are sized for vehicle access, often 4m to 6m wide or more, with heavier curtains and drives. Wind locks and deep guides stop wide curtains bowing out of their guides in strong winds.

Safety edges, photocells and light curtains protect people and forklifts passing under the door. Direct-drive motors mounted on the end plate are typical on large doors because they handle heavy curtains and frequent cycles.

Features to choose from

  • Push-button, pull-cord, loop or remote control
  • Wind locks and deep guide rails
  • Guide guards and bollards against impact
  • Wicket doors and vision panels
  • Single or three-phase drives
  • Safety edges, photocells and light curtains

Rules in England

Electrical work

Electric shutters are wired to BS 7671, the IET Wiring Regulations. In homes in England, new circuits are notifiable under Part P of the Building Regulations, so the work is done by a registered electrician who can self-certify it, or notified to building control.

Questions about industrial roller shutter doors in Bideford

Do you cover Bideford?

Yes. Send the postcode and we will arrange a survey in Bideford. We also cover nearby Barnstaple.

What safety devices are required?

It depends on the risk assessment. Doors that close automatically or where people and vehicles pass usually need a safety edge, photocells or a light curtain, and force testing on commissioning.

Can you fit a door with a pedestrian door in it?

Yes. Wicket doors can be built into many industrial shutters, although they need interlocks so the curtain cannot move while the wicket is open.

How often should an industrial door be serviced?

Busy doors are usually serviced at least once or twice a year, and more often where they cycle many times a day. The manufacturer's instructions and your risk assessment set the frequency.

Are your prices fixed?

Yes. After the survey you get a written price for the agreed specification, confirmed before anything is ordered or any work starts. If you change the specification, or a hidden problem such as a weak lintel is found during fitting, we price it and agree it with you before carrying on.

Do your guide prices include VAT?

Guide prices are shown both excluding VAT and including VAT at the standard rate of 20%. For a home, the price including VAT is what you pay.
