Industrial roller shutter doors in Catford: the essentials

Wind locks and deep guides stop wide curtains bowing out of their guides in strong winds. Three-phase motors are common on larger doors, and the electrical supply is checked at survey.

Bump protection, bollards and guide-rail guards reduce damage from vehicles. Direct-drive motors mounted on the end plate are typical on large doors because they handle heavy curtains and frequent cycles.

Rules in England

Electrical work

Electric shutters are wired to BS 7671, the IET Wiring Regulations. In homes in England, new circuits are notifiable under Part P of the Building Regulations, so the work is done by a registered electrician who can self-certify it, or notified to building control.

Your questions answered

Do you cover Catford?

Yes. We survey, fit and repair industrial roller shutter doors in Catford and the SE6 district, as part of our coverage across Greater London.

Do industrial doors need a three-phase supply?

Larger doors often use three-phase motors, but many can run on single-phase. We check your supply at survey and specify the drive to suit.

What safety devices are required?

It depends on the risk assessment. Doors that close automatically or where people and vehicles pass usually need a safety edge, photocells or a light curtain, and force testing on commissioning.

Can you fit a door with a pedestrian door in it?

Yes. Wicket doors can be built into many industrial shutters, although they need interlocks so the curtain cannot move while the wicket is open.

Can you fit outside trading hours?

Yes, out-of-hours fitting can be arranged for shops and businesses that cannot close during the day.

Are your prices fixed?

Yes. After the survey you get a written price for the agreed specification, confirmed before anything is ordered or any work starts. If you change the specification, or a hidden problem such as a weak lintel is found during fitting, we price it and agree it with you before carrying on.
