Choosing industrial roller shutter doors for premises in Formby

Insulated laths reduce heat loss at loading bays and help temperature-controlled stock. Bump protection, bollards and guide-rail guards reduce damage from vehicles.

Direct-drive motors mounted on the end plate are typical on large doors because they handle heavy curtains and frequent cycles. Safety edges, photocells and light curtains protect people and forklifts passing under the door.

Options we can specify

  • Guide guards and bollards against impact
  • Galvanised steel or insulated laths
  • Push-button, pull-cord, loop or remote control
  • Single or three-phase drives
  • Safety edges, photocells and light curtains
  • Direct-drive and chain motors for heavy use

Rules in England

Safety of powered shutters

Powered doors and shutters are treated as machinery. The installer commissions them with a risk assessment, safety devices where the risk calls for them and force checks to BS EN 12453, then hands over a declaration of conformity and maintenance instructions. In workplaces, the employer or whoever controls the premises must keep doors maintained and safe for staff and visitors.

How it works

Send the postcode, a rough size and a photo if you have one, using the form or a call.

  3. Written fixed price

You get a written quote with the product, finish, controls and price before anything is ordered.

Your questions answered

Do you cover Formby?

Yes. We survey, fit and repair industrial roller shutter doors in Formby and the L37 district, as part of our coverage across Merseyside.

Can you fit a door with a pedestrian door in it?

Yes. Wicket doors can be built into many industrial shutters, although they need interlocks so the curtain cannot move while the wicket is open.

What safety devices are required?

It depends on the risk assessment. Doors that close automatically or where people and vehicles pass usually need a safety edge, photocells or a light curtain, and force testing on commissioning.

Do industrial doors need a three-phase supply?

Larger doors often use three-phase motors, but many can run on single-phase. We check your supply at survey and specify the drive to suit.

What warranty do I get?

Products carry the manufacturer's warranty, and the warranty for your shutter is set out in your quote.

Who carries out the work?

Work is carried out by experienced shutter engineers working for S&K Property Investments and Improvement Ltd, which is the company your contract is with.
