What to know about industrial roller shutter doors in Prescot

Planned maintenance keeps busy doors running and is part of keeping workplace equipment safe. Direct-drive motors mounted on the end plate are typical on large doors because they handle heavy curtains and frequent cycles.

Safety edges, photocells and light curtains protect people and forklifts passing under the door. Wind locks and deep guides stop wide curtains bowing out of their guides in strong winds.

What's included

  • Wind locks and deep guide rails
  • Galvanised steel or insulated laths
  • Push-button, pull-cord, loop or remote control
  • Single or three-phase drives
  • Safety edges, photocells and light curtains
  • Direct-drive and chain motors for heavy use

Rules in England

Safety of powered shutters

Powered doors and shutters are treated as machinery. The installer commissions them with a risk assessment, safety devices where the risk calls for them and force checks to BS EN 12453, then hands over a declaration of conformity and maintenance instructions. In workplaces, the employer or whoever controls the premises must keep doors maintained and safe for staff and visitors.

Questions about industrial roller shutter doors in Prescot

Do you cover Prescot?

Yes. We survey, fit and repair industrial roller shutter doors in Prescot and the L34 district, as part of our coverage across Merseyside.

What safety devices are required?

It depends on the risk assessment. Doors that close automatically or where people and vehicles pass usually need a safety edge, photocells or a light curtain, and force testing on commissioning.

Can you replace just the motor on an old door?

Often yes, if the curtain and barrel are sound. See our motor replacement service.

Do industrial doors need a three-phase supply?

Larger doors often use three-phase motors, but many can run on single-phase. We check your supply at survey and specify the drive to suit.

Are your prices fixed?

Yes. After the survey you get a written price for the agreed specification, confirmed before anything is ordered or any work starts. If you change the specification, or a hidden problem such as a weak lintel is found during fitting, we price it and agree it with you before carrying on.

What warranty do I get?

Products carry the manufacturer's warranty, and the warranty for your shutter is set out in your quote.
