Insulated roller shutters in Crowborough: the essentials

Double-skin laths sandwich a foam core between two metal skins, which slows heat transfer through the curtain. Brush and rubber seals at the guides, head and bottom rail cut draughts around the curtain.

They can be made in steel or aluminium, and powder coated to match cladding. Insulated shutters reduce condensation on the inside of the door in cold weather.

Specification options

  • Motors sized to the heavier curtain
  • Reduced noise through the opening
  • Vision laths available
  • Steel or aluminium skins
  • Foam-filled double-skin laths
  • Brush and rubber seals all round

Rules in England

Electrical work

Electric shutters are wired to BS 7671, the IET Wiring Regulations. In homes in England, new circuits are notifiable under Part P of the Building Regulations, so the work is done by a registered electrician who can self-certify it, or notified to building control.

Before you book in Crowborough

Do you cover Crowborough?

Yes. We survey, fit and repair insulated roller shutters in Crowborough and the TN6 district, as part of our coverage across East Sussex.

Do insulated shutters need a bigger box?

Yes, slightly, because the thicker laths make a larger roll. We measure the space above the opening at survey.

Can you insulate my existing shutter?

Not usually. Insulation is built into the laths, so the curtain would need replacing, which is often possible on the existing box and guides.

Are insulated shutters more secure?

The double skin adds some strength, but insulation is about heat and noise. For tested security, look at steel or LPS 1175 rated shutters.

What warranty do I get?

Products carry the manufacturer's warranty, and the warranty for your shutter is set out in your quote.

How long does it take from order to fitting?

Shutters are made to measure after the survey, so the lead time depends on the product, colour and any security rating. We confirm it in your quote.
