Choosing insulated roller shutters for premises in Romford

Insulated shutters reduce condensation on the inside of the door in cold weather. Brush and rubber seals at the guides, head and bottom rail cut draughts around the curtain.

A large opening loses a lot of heat, so insulating the door can make a noticeable difference to a heated unit. They can be made in steel or aluminium, and powder coated to match cladding.

What's included

  • Motors sized to the heavier curtain
  • Steel or aluminium skins
  • Reduced noise through the opening
  • Less condensation on the inside face
  • Vision laths available
  • Powder coated to match cladding

Rules in England

Safety of powered shutters

Powered doors and shutters are treated as machinery. The installer commissions them with a risk assessment, safety devices where the risk calls for them and force checks to BS EN 12453, then hands over a declaration of conformity and maintenance instructions. In workplaces, the employer or whoever controls the premises must keep doors maintained and safe for staff and visitors.

Before you book in Romford

Do you cover Romford?

Yes. Send the postcode and we will arrange a survey in Romford. We also cover nearby Hornchurch, Dagenham and Becontree.

How much heat does an insulated shutter save?

It depends on the door size, how often it is open and how the building is heated. The manufacturer's thermal figures show the difference between insulated and single-skin curtains, and we include them with your quote.

Do insulated shutters need a bigger box?

Yes, slightly, because the thicker laths make a larger roll. We measure the space above the opening at survey.

Can you insulate my existing shutter?

Not usually. Insulation is built into the laths, so the curtain would need replacing, which is often possible on the existing box and guides.

Do your guide prices include VAT?

Guide prices are shown both excluding VAT and including VAT at the standard rate of 20%. For a home, the price including VAT is what you pay.

Will you take away my old shutter?

Yes. Removal and disposal of an old shutter is included when we quote for a replacement.
