Choosing LPS 1175 high-security shutters for premises in Bideford

Your insurer may name a minimum rating in your policy, so check the schedule before choosing a product. Other test standards such as STS 202 and BS EN 1627 are also used, and we can source products to the one you need.

Where the structure around the opening is weak, it may need strengthening for the rating to mean anything in practice. Older Issue 7 ratings ran from SR1 to SR8; roughly, SR1 corresponds to A1, SR2 to B3 and SR3 to C5.

Features to choose from

  • Ratings from A1 upwards to suit the risk
  • Products certified to LPS 1175 Issue 8
  • Reinforced guides, curtain and locking
  • Electric operation with override
  • Installed as tested to keep the rating valid
  • Certificate reference provided with your quote

Where we work around Bideford

Jobs in Bideford are planned as part of our Devon coverage, and visits can be combined with jobs in nearby Barnstaple. Planning rules are those of your local council in England.

Rules in England

Electrical work

Electric shutters are wired to BS 7671, the IET Wiring Regulations. In homes in England, new circuits are notifiable under Part P of the Building Regulations, so the work is done by a registered electrician who can self-certify it, or notified to building control.

How it works

  1. Send the details

Give us the postcode, approximate width and height, and what the shutter is protecting.

  2. We survey the opening

An engineer measures and checks the fixings, power and any planning constraints.

  3. You approve a fixed price

The quote lists the specification and price in writing, so there are no surprises.

  4. We fit and commission

Your shutter is installed, tested and handed over with instructions and paperwork.

Questions about LPS 1175 high-security shutters in Bideford

Do you cover Bideford?

Yes. Bideford (EX39) is within our Devon coverage, along with nearby Barnstaple.

What does an LPS 1175 rating like B3 mean?

In Issue 8, the letter is the threat level, meaning the tools and number of attackers the product was tested against, and the number is the minimum delay in minutes. B3 means threat level B with at least three minutes' delay.

Does my insurer need a rated shutter?

Some policies specify a minimum rating for certain trades or stock values. Check your policy schedule, or send it to us and we will match the product to it.

Is SR2 the same as B3?

The two systems are different, but as a rough guide SR1 corresponds to A1, SR2 to B3 and SR3 to C5. Your insurer's wording tells you which version they require.

Who carries out the work?

Work is carried out by experienced shutter engineers working for S&K Property Investments and Improvement Ltd, which is the company your contract is with.

Is the survey free?

Yes, for new shutters, grilles and doors: the survey and written quote are free and there is no obligation to go ahead. Repair and servicing visits are charged, and we tell you the price before we visit.
