How LPS 1175 high-security shutters work, and what to ask for

Other test standards such as STS 202 and BS EN 1627 are also used, and we can source products to the one you need. The LPCB publishes a list of certified products, called the Red Book, so a rating can be checked independently.

Higher ratings mean heavier curtains, stronger guides and locking, and fixings into suitable structure. Where the structure around the opening is weak, it may need strengthening for the rating to mean anything in practice.

Features to choose from

  • Structural fixing checked at survey
  • Products certified to LPS 1175 Issue 8
  • Installed as tested to keep the rating valid
  • Reinforced guides, curtain and locking
  • Electric operation with override
  • STS 202 and BS EN 1627 products on request

Rules in England

Rated security products

LPS 1175 certification belongs to the manufacturer's tested product. We give you the certificate reference with your quote and install the shutter to the tested specification. We do not hold or claim certification ourselves.

How it works

  1. Send the details

Give us the postcode, approximate width and height, and what the shutter is protecting.

  2. We survey the opening

An engineer measures and checks the fixings, power and any planning constraints.

  3. You approve a fixed price

The quote lists the specification and price in writing, so there are no surprises.

  4. We fit and commission

Your shutter is installed, tested and handed over with instructions and paperwork.

Your questions answered

Do you cover Stalybridge?

Yes. Stalybridge (SK15) is within our Greater Manchester coverage, along with nearby Dukinfield, Ashton-under-Lyne and Hyde.

Is SR2 the same as B3?

The two systems are different, but as a rough guide SR1 corresponds to A1, SR2 to B3 and SR3 to C5. Your insurer's wording tells you which version they require.

Does my insurer need a rated shutter?

Some policies specify a minimum rating for certain trades or stock values. Check your policy schedule, or send it to us and we will match the product to it.

Do you hold LPCB certification?

The certification belongs to the manufacturer's tested shutter, not to us. We supply certified products, give you the certificate reference with the quote, and install them to the tested specification.

Are your prices fixed?

Yes. After the survey you get a written price for the agreed specification, confirmed before anything is ordered or any work starts. If you change the specification, or a hidden problem such as a weak lintel is found during fitting, we price it and agree it with you before carrying on.

What warranty do I get?

Products carry the manufacturer's warranty, and the warranty for your shutter is set out in your quote.
