LPS 1175 high-security shutters in Formby: the essentials

Where the structure around the opening is weak, it may need strengthening for the rating to mean anything in practice. Issue 8 ratings combine a letter for the tools and attackers tested against with a number for the minimum delay in minutes, such as B3 or C5.

Your insurer may name a minimum rating in your policy, so check the schedule before choosing a product. The certification belongs to the manufacturer's tested product, so it must be installed exactly as tested to keep its rating.

What's included

  • Electric operation with override
  • Products certified to LPS 1175 Issue 8
  • STS 202 and BS EN 1627 products on request
  • Installed as tested to keep the rating valid
  • Certificate reference provided with your quote

Rules in England

Electrical work

Electric shutters are wired to BS 7671, the IET Wiring Regulations. In homes in England, new circuits are notifiable under Part P of the Building Regulations, so the work is done by a registered electrician who can self-certify it, or notified to building control.

Questions about LPS 1175 high-security shutters in Formby

Do you cover Formby?

Yes. We survey, fit and repair LPS 1175 high-security shutters in Formby and the L37 district, as part of our coverage across Merseyside.

What does an LPS 1175 rating like B3 mean?

In Issue 8, the letter is the threat level, meaning the tools and number of attackers the product was tested against, and the number is the minimum delay in minutes. B3 means threat level B with at least three minutes' delay.

Does my insurer need a rated shutter?

Some policies specify a minimum rating for certain trades or stock values. Check your policy schedule, or send it to us and we will match the product to it.

Is SR2 the same as B3?

The two systems are different, but as a rough guide SR1 corresponds to A1, SR2 to B3 and SR3 to C5. Your insurer's wording tells you which version they require.

How long does it take from order to fitting?

Shutters are made to measure after the survey, so the lead time depends on the product, colour and any security rating. We confirm it in your quote.

Can you fit outside trading hours?

Yes, out-of-hours fitting can be arranged for shops and businesses that cannot close during the day.
