Choosing roller grilles for premises in Chalfont St Peter

An open curtain lets air and light through, so displays stay on view and the unit does not look closed down. Polycarbonate infill panels can be added to stop items being passed through the lattice.

A clear-anodised or powder-coated finish keeps a grille looking smart. Councils often see roller grilles as more acceptable than solid shutters in town centres.

Rules in England

Electrical work

Electric shutters are wired to BS 7671, the IET Wiring Regulations. In homes in England, new circuits are notifiable under Part P of the Building Regulations, so the work is done by a registered electrician who can self-certify it, or notified to building control.

Your questions answered

Do you cover Chalfont St Peter?

Yes. Send the postcode and we will arrange a survey in Chalfont St Peter. We also cover nearby Gerrards Cross, Rickmansworth and Amersham.

Can a grille cover a very wide unit?

Yes, with a stronger curtain or removable intermediate posts to keep it rigid.

Do roller grilles need planning permission?

External roller grilles usually need planning permission like other external security. Councils often find them more acceptable than solid shutters.

Is a roller grille or a perforated shutter better?

A grille gives far more visibility and airflow, while a perforated shutter gives more privacy and weather protection. Shopping centres often specify grilles; high streets use both.

Will you take away my old shutter?

Yes. Removal and disposal of an old shutter is included when we quote for a replacement.

Is the survey free?

Yes, for new shutters, grilles and doors: the survey and written quote are free and there is no obligation to go ahead. Repair and servicing visits are charged, and we tell you the price before we visit.
