How roller grilles work, and what to ask for

Polycarbonate infill panels can be added to stop items being passed through the lattice. Shopping centres often require roller grilles rather than solid shutters on unit fronts.

Roller grilles roll into a box like a shutter, and can be manual or electric. An open curtain lets air and light through, so displays stay on view and the unit does not look closed down.

What's included

  • Aluminium or steel curtains
  • Suited to shopping centre unit fronts
  • Manual or electric operation
  • Brick-bond, tubular or link lattice

Before you book in Carrickfergus

Do you cover Carrickfergus?

Yes. Send the postcode and we will arrange a survey in Carrickfergus. We also cover nearby Newtownabbey, Bangor (County Down) and Larne.

Is a roller grille or a perforated shutter better?

A grille gives far more visibility and airflow, while a perforated shutter gives more privacy and weather protection. Shopping centres often specify grilles; high streets use both.

Can things be passed through a grille?

Small items can pass through an open lattice. Polycarbonate infill panels close the gaps if that is a concern.

Do roller grilles need planning permission?

External roller grilles usually need planning permission like other external security. Councils often find them more acceptable than solid shutters.

Will you take away my old shutter?

Yes. Removal and disposal of an old shutter is included when we quote for a replacement.

Are your prices fixed?

Yes. After the survey you get a written price for the agreed specification, confirmed before anything is ordered or any work starts. If you change the specification, or a hidden problem such as a weak lintel is found during fitting, we price it and agree it with you before carrying on.
