What to know about roller grilles in Craigavon
Aluminium grilles are lighter and suit large unit fronts; steel grilles add strength. Shopping centres often require roller grilles rather than solid shutters on unit fronts.
Brick-bond, tubular and link patterns give different levels of visibility and strength. A clear-anodised or powder-coated finish keeps a grille looking smart.
Options we can specify
- Removable intermediate posts for wide units
- Brick-bond, tubular or link lattice
- Anodised or powder-coated finishes
- Aluminium or steel curtains
- Solid kick panel option

Rules in Northern Ireland
Planning permission for shopfront shutters
In Northern Ireland planning permission for an external shopfront shutter is decided by your local council, which took over most planning decisions in 2015, and a listed building also needs listed building consent. Design guidance generally favours shutters that keep the frontage visible.

Questions about roller grilles in Craigavon
Do you cover Craigavon?
Yes. Craigavon (BT62) is within our County Armagh coverage, along with nearby Lurgan, Portadown and Banbridge.
Is a roller grille or a perforated shutter better?
A grille gives far more visibility and airflow, while a perforated shutter gives more privacy and weather protection. Shopping centres often specify grilles; high streets use both.
Do roller grilles need planning permission?
External roller grilles usually need planning permission like other external security. Councils often find them more acceptable than solid shutters.
Can a grille cover a very wide unit?
Yes, with a stronger curtain or removable intermediate posts to keep it rigid.
Is the survey free?
Yes, for new shutters, grilles and doors: the survey and written quote are free and there is no obligation to go ahead. Repair and servicing visits are charged, and we tell you the price before we visit.
What warranty do I get?
Products carry the manufacturer's warranty, and the warranty for your shutter is set out in your quote.
