What to know about roller grilles in Stockton-on-Tees

Brick-bond, tubular and link patterns give different levels of visibility and strength. Aluminium grilles are lighter and suit large unit fronts; steel grilles add strength.

Wide grilles use intermediate posts or a stronger curtain to resist being pushed in. A clear-anodised or powder-coated finish keeps a grille looking smart.

Options we can specify

  • Aluminium or steel curtains

Rules in England

Safety of powered shutters

Powered doors and shutters are treated as machinery. The installer commissions them with a risk assessment, safety devices where the risk calls for them and force checks to BS EN 12453, then hands over a declaration of conformity and maintenance instructions. In workplaces, the employer or whoever controls the premises must keep doors maintained and safe for staff and visitors.

Questions about roller grilles in Stockton-on-Tees

Do you cover Stockton-on-Tees?

Yes. Stockton-on-Tees (TS19) is within our County Durham coverage, along with nearby Billingham, Thornaby-on-Tees and Middlesbrough.

Can a grille cover a very wide unit?

Yes, with a stronger curtain or removable intermediate posts to keep it rigid.

Can things be passed through a grille?

Small items can pass through an open lattice. Polycarbonate infill panels close the gaps if that is a concern.

Do roller grilles need planning permission?

External roller grilles usually need planning permission like other external security. Councils often find them more acceptable than solid shutters.

Who carries out the work?

Work is carried out by experienced shutter engineers working for S&K Property Investments and Improvement Ltd, which is the company your contract is with.

Do you work with landlords and managing agents?

Yes. We quote, fit and service shutters for landlords, managing agents and facilities teams, including multi-site planned maintenance.
