What to know about roller grilles in Hornchurch
Councils often see roller grilles as more acceptable than solid shutters in town centres. Brick-bond, tubular and link patterns give different levels of visibility and strength.
Roller grilles roll into a box like a shutter, and can be manual or electric. Grilles can be combined with a solid section at the base for kick protection.

Rules in England
Electrical work
Electric shutters are wired to BS 7671, the IET Wiring Regulations. In homes in England, new circuits are notifiable under Part P of the Building Regulations, so the work is done by a registered electrician who can self-certify it, or notified to building control.

Before you book in Hornchurch
Do you cover Hornchurch?
Yes. We survey, fit and repair roller grilles in Hornchurch and the RM11 district, as part of our coverage across Greater London.
Can things be passed through a grille?
Small items can pass through an open lattice. Polycarbonate infill panels close the gaps if that is a concern.
Do roller grilles need planning permission?
External roller grilles usually need planning permission like other external security. Councils often find them more acceptable than solid shutters.
Is a roller grille or a perforated shutter better?
A grille gives far more visibility and airflow, while a perforated shutter gives more privacy and weather protection. Shopping centres often specify grilles; high streets use both.
Do your guide prices include VAT?
Guide prices are shown both excluding VAT and including VAT at the standard rate of 20%. For a home, the price including VAT is what you pay.
What warranty do I get?
Products carry the manufacturer's warranty, and the warranty for your shutter is set out in your quote.
