What to know about roller grilles in Hindley

Roller grilles roll into a box like a shutter, and can be manual or electric. Shopping centres often require roller grilles rather than solid shutters on unit fronts.

A clear-anodised or powder-coated finish keeps a grille looking smart. An open curtain lets air and light through, so displays stay on view and the unit does not look closed down.

Specification options

  • Optional polycarbonate infill
  • Suited to shopping centre unit fronts
  • Solid kick panel option
  • Aluminium or steel curtains
  • Anodised or powder-coated finishes
  • Removable intermediate posts for wide units

Covering Hindley and nearby

Jobs in Hindley are planned as part of our Greater Manchester coverage, and visits can be combined with jobs in nearby Wigan, Westhoughton and Leigh. Planning rules are those of your local council in England.

Rules in England

Safety of powered shutters

Powered doors and shutters are treated as machinery. The installer commissions them with a risk assessment, safety devices where the risk calls for them and force checks to BS EN 12453, then hands over a declaration of conformity and maintenance instructions. In workplaces, the employer or whoever controls the premises must keep doors maintained and safe for staff and visitors.

How it works

  1. Send the details

Give us the postcode, approximate width and height, and what the shutter is protecting.

  2. We survey the opening

An engineer measures and checks the fixings, power and any planning constraints.

  3. You approve a fixed price

The quote lists the specification and price in writing, so there are no surprises.

  4. We fit and commission

Your shutter is installed, tested and handed over with instructions and paperwork.

Questions about roller grilles in Hindley

Do you cover Hindley?

Yes. Hindley (WN2) is within our Greater Manchester coverage, along with nearby Wigan, Westhoughton and Leigh.

Can a grille cover a very wide unit?

Yes, with a stronger curtain or removable intermediate posts to keep it rigid.

Do roller grilles need planning permission?

External roller grilles usually need planning permission like other external security. Councils often find them more acceptable than solid shutters.

Is a roller grille or a perforated shutter better?

A grille gives far more visibility and airflow, while a perforated shutter gives more privacy and weather protection. Shopping centres often specify grilles; high streets use both.

Can I get a quote from photos?

Photos and approximate sizes let us give you a guide price quickly. A survey is still needed before a shutter is made, because it is built to exact measurements.

Are your prices fixed?

Yes. After the survey you get a written price for the agreed specification, confirmed before anything is ordered or any work starts. If you change the specification, or a hidden problem such as a weak lintel is found during fitting, we price it and agree it with you before carrying on.
