Roller grilles in Stretford: the essentials

Aluminium grilles are lighter and suit large unit fronts; steel grilles add strength. Councils often see roller grilles as more acceptable than solid shutters in town centres.

Roller grilles roll into a box like a shutter, and can be manual or electric. A clear-anodised or powder-coated finish keeps a grille looking smart.

Specification options

  • Suited to shopping centre unit fronts
  • Anodised or powder-coated finishes
  • Aluminium or steel curtains
  • Solid kick panel option
  • Brick-bond, tubular or link lattice
  • Optional polycarbonate infill

Rules in England

Safety of powered shutters

Powered doors and shutters are treated as machinery. The installer commissions them with a risk assessment, safety devices where the risk calls for them and force checks to BS EN 12453, then hands over a declaration of conformity and maintenance instructions. In workplaces, the employer or whoever controls the premises must keep doors maintained and safe for staff and visitors.

How it works

  1. Tell us about the opening

Send the postcode, a rough size and a photo if you have one, using the form or a call.

  2. Free survey

We measure, check the structure, power supply and planning position, and talk through options.

  3. Written fixed price

You get a written quote with the product, finish, controls and price before anything is ordered.

  4. Made, fitted and handed over

The shutter is made to measure, fitted, commissioned and handed over with its documents.

Roller grilles: common questions

Do you cover Stretford?

Yes. Stretford (M32) is within our Greater Manchester coverage, along with nearby Urmston, Sale and Eccles.

Can things be passed through a grille?

Small items can pass through an open lattice. Polycarbonate infill panels close the gaps if that is a concern.

Can a grille cover a very wide unit?

Yes, with a stronger curtain or removable intermediate posts to keep it rigid.

Is a roller grille or a perforated shutter better?

A grille gives far more visibility and airflow, while a perforated shutter gives more privacy and weather protection. Shopping centres often specify grilles; high streets use both.

Do you work with landlords and managing agents?

Yes. We quote, fit and service shutters for landlords, managing agents and facilities teams, including multi-site planned maintenance.

Are your prices fixed?

Yes. After the survey you get a written price for the agreed specification, confirmed before anything is ordered or any work starts. If you change the specification, or a hidden problem such as a weak lintel is found during fitting, we price it and agree it with you before carrying on.
