Choosing roller grilles for premises in Walton-on-Thames

Aluminium grilles are lighter and suit large unit fronts; steel grilles add strength. Shopping centres often require roller grilles rather than solid shutters on unit fronts.

An open curtain lets air and light through, so displays stay on view and the unit does not look closed down. A clear-anodised or powder-coated finish keeps a grille looking smart.

Specification options

  • Optional polycarbonate infill
  • Manual or electric operation
  • Brick-bond, tubular or link lattice
  • Aluminium or steel curtains
  • Anodised or powder-coated finishes
  • Suited to shopping centre unit fronts

Rules in England

Safety of powered shutters

Powered doors and shutters are treated as machinery. The installer commissions them with a risk assessment, safety devices where the risk calls for them and force checks to BS EN 12453, then hands over a declaration of conformity and maintenance instructions. In workplaces, the employer or whoever controls the premises must keep doors maintained and safe for staff and visitors.

How it works

  1. Tell us about the opening

Send the postcode, a rough size and a photo if you have one, using the form or a call.

  2. Free survey

  3. Written fixed price

You get a written quote with the product, finish, controls and price before anything is ordered.

The shutter is made to measure, fitted, commissioned and handed over with its documents.

Questions about roller grilles in Walton-on-Thames

Do you cover Walton-on-Thames?

Yes. Walton-on-Thames (KT12) is within our Surrey coverage, along with nearby Sunbury-on-Thames, Esher and Hampton.

Can a grille cover a very wide unit?

Yes, with a stronger curtain or removable intermediate posts to keep it rigid.

Is a roller grille or a perforated shutter better?

A grille gives far more visibility and airflow, while a perforated shutter gives more privacy and weather protection. Shopping centres often specify grilles; high streets use both.

Can things be passed through a grille?

Small items can pass through an open lattice. Polycarbonate infill panels close the gaps if that is a concern.

Can you fit outside trading hours?

Yes, out-of-hours fitting can be arranged for shops and businesses that cannot close during the day.

Who carries out the work?

Work is carried out by experienced shutter engineers working for S&K Property Investments and Improvement Ltd, which is the company your contract is with.
