How roller shutter installation works, and what to ask for

Powered shutters are handed over with user instructions, maintenance guidance and a declaration of conformity. Guides and box are fixed into suitable structure; weak brickwork or timber is reinforced or bridged first.

Access equipment, road or pavement licences and out-of-hours fitting are arranged where needed. The shutter is made to the survey measurements, so it fits the opening rather than being adapted on site.

What's included

  • Handover pack and keys
  • Out-of-hours fitting on request
  • Made-to-measure manufacture
  • Electrical connection and commissioning

Rules in England

Safety of powered shutters

Powered doors and shutters are treated as machinery. The installer commissions them with a risk assessment, safety devices where the risk calls for them and force checks to BS EN 12453, then hands over a declaration of conformity and maintenance instructions. In workplaces, the employer or whoever controls the premises must keep doors maintained and safe for staff and visitors.

How it works

  1. Send the details

Give us the postcode, approximate width and height, and what the shutter is protecting.

  2. We survey the opening

An engineer measures and checks the fixings, power and any planning constraints.

  3. You approve a fixed price

The quote lists the specification and price in writing, so there are no surprises.

  4. We fit and commission

Your shutter is installed, tested and handed over with instructions and paperwork.

Your questions answered

Do you cover Windsor?

Yes. Send the postcode and we will arrange a survey in Windsor. We also cover nearby Slough, Egham and Staines-upon-Thames.

What happens at the survey?

We measure the opening, check the structure, power supply, access and any planning constraints, and talk through the options. You then get a written fixed price.

How long does installation take?

Most single shutters are fitted in a day once made. Large or multiple doors take longer and are scheduled with you.

What paperwork do I get?

Electric shutters are handed over with user instructions, maintenance guidance and a declaration of conformity, which are useful for your records and insurer.

Will you take away my old shutter?

Yes. Removal and disposal of an old shutter is included when we quote for a replacement.

Do your guide prices include VAT?

Guide prices are shown both excluding VAT and including VAT at the standard rate of 20%. For a home, the price including VAT is what you pay.
