Choosing roller shutter installation for premises in Camden Town

Guides and box are fixed into suitable structure; weak brickwork or timber is reinforced or bridged first. After installation, a service plan keeps the shutter safe and running.

Access equipment, road or pavement licences and out-of-hours fitting are arranged where needed. Planning permission and listed building consent are checked before the shutter is ordered.

Options we can specify

  • Fixing into suitable structure
  • Planning checks before ordering
  • Survey of opening, structure and power

Rules in England

Planning permission for shopfront shutters

In England an external shutter on a shopfront is usually treated as development that needs planning permission from the local planning authority, and a listed building also needs listed building consent. Many councils' shopfront design guides favour internal shutters, perforated or open-grille designs and boxes hidden behind the fascia, and some refuse solid external shutters in conservation areas and on main shopping streets.
