How roller shutter installation works, and what to ask for

Access equipment, road or pavement licences and out-of-hours fitting are arranged where needed. Planning permission and listed building consent are checked before the shutter is ordered.

Most single shopfront and domestic shutters are fitted in a day. Powered shutters are handed over with user instructions, maintenance guidance and a declaration of conformity.

Rules in England

Safety of powered shutters

Powered doors and shutters are treated as machinery. The installer commissions them with a risk assessment, safety devices where the risk calls for them and force checks to BS EN 12453, then hands over a declaration of conformity and maintenance instructions. In workplaces, the employer or whoever controls the premises must keep doors maintained and safe for staff and visitors.

How it works

  3. Written fixed price

The shutter is made to measure, fitted, commissioned and handed over with its documents.

Roller shutter installation: common questions

Do you cover Droitwich?

Yes. Droitwich (WR9) is within our Worcestershire coverage, along with nearby Bromsgrove, Stourport-on-Severn and Redditch.

What happens at the survey?

We measure the opening, check the structure, power supply, access and any planning constraints, and talk through the options. You then get a written fixed price.

How long does installation take?

Most single shutters are fitted in a day once made. Large or multiple doors take longer and are scheduled with you.

What paperwork do I get?

Electric shutters are handed over with user instructions, maintenance guidance and a declaration of conformity, which are useful for your records and insurer.

Do your guide prices include VAT?

Guide prices are shown both excluding VAT and including VAT at the standard rate of 20%. For a home, the price including VAT is what you pay.

How long does it take from order to fitting?

Shutters are made to measure after the survey, so the lead time depends on the product, colour and any security rating. We confirm it in your quote.
