What to know about shutter motor replacement in Wellingborough
Some replacement motors have built-in obstacle detection, which adds protection on doors without a safety edge. A motor that hums but does not turn, overheats or stops at random may need replacing, though controls are checked first.
Smart and timer controls can be added when the motor is replaced. Industrial direct-drive motors can be replaced with a matching or compatible unit on most doors.
Options we can specify
- Obstacle detection options
- Motors matched to curtain weight
- Limits set and tested
- Key switch, remote and receiver upgrades
- Tube motors for domestic and shop shutters
- Safety checks on handover

Rules in England
Safety of powered shutters
Powered doors and shutters are treated as machinery. The installer commissions them with a risk assessment, safety devices where the risk calls for them and force checks to BS EN 12453, then hands over a declaration of conformity and maintenance instructions. In workplaces, the employer or whoever controls the premises must keep doors maintained and safe for staff and visitors.

Questions about shutter motor replacement in Wellingborough
Do you cover Wellingborough?

Can I add remote control when the motor is replaced?
Yes, many replacement motors and controllers support remotes, timers or app control.
Can you fit a motor to a different make of shutter?
Usually yes, by matching the motor size and torque to the barrel and curtain.
How do I know if the motor has failed?
Signs include humming without movement, stopping at random, overheating or not responding at all. The fault can also be the switch, receiver or power, so an engineer checks those first.

What warranty do I get?
