What to know about shutter servicing & maintenance in Derry/Londonderry

A service covers the curtain, guides, barrel, springs, motor, limits, controls, locks and safety devices. Busy commercial and industrial doors usually need servicing more often than a shop shutter used twice a day.

Multi-site and multi-shutter contracts can be scheduled together so every door is covered. Safety edges and photocells are tested so the shutter stops and reverses as it should.

Options we can specify

  • Cleaning and lubrication of guides and bearings
  • Written report after every visit
  • Safety edge and photocell testing

Rules in Northern Ireland

Safety of powered shutters

Powered doors and shutters are treated as machinery. The installer commissions them with a risk assessment, safety devices where the risk calls for them and force checks to BS EN 12453, then hands over a declaration of conformity and maintenance instructions. In workplaces, the employer or whoever controls the premises must keep doors maintained and safe for staff and visitors.

How it works

  1. Describe the fault

Tell us what the shutter is doing, the make if you know it, and send a photo or video.

  2. Engineer visit

An engineer inspects the shutter, finds the cause and makes it safe.

  3. Fixed repair price

You get the repair price before parts are fitted; simple fixes are often done on the first visit.

  4. Tested and reported

Limits and safety devices are checked, and you get a note of what was done.

Your questions answered

Do you cover Derry/Londonderry?

Yes. Send the postcode and we will arrange a survey in Derry/Londonderry. We also cover nearby Strabane and Limavady.

What is checked on a service?

The curtain, guides, barrel, springs, motor, limits, controls, locks and safety devices, followed by a written report.

How often should a roller shutter be serviced?

Most shop shutters benefit from a yearly service, and busy commercial or industrial doors usually need two or more visits a year. The manufacturer's instructions and your risk assessment set the frequency.

Can you service shutters across several sites?

Yes, we can schedule planned maintenance across multiple sites with one report format.

Do you work with landlords and managing agents?

Yes. We quote, fit and service shutters for landlords, managing agents and facilities teams, including multi-site planned maintenance.

How long does it take from order to fitting?

Shutters are made to measure after the survey, so the lead time depends on the product, colour and any security rating. We confirm it in your quote.
