Shutter servicing & maintenance in Montrose: the essentials

A service covers the curtain, guides, barrel, springs, motor, limits, controls, locks and safety devices. Each visit ends with a written report listing what was checked and anything that needs attention.

Small issues like worn bearings or loose fixings are cheaper to fix early than after a breakdown. Workplace regulations require the employer or person in control of the premises to keep doors and gates, including powered shutters, maintained in efficient working order.

Options we can specify

  • Fixing and bracket checks
  • Cleaning and lubrication of guides and bearings
  • Spring tension and balance checks
  • Full mechanical inspection
  • Motor, limit and control checks

Rules in Scotland

Safety of powered shutters

Powered doors and shutters are treated as machinery. The installer commissions them with a risk assessment, safety devices where the risk calls for them and force checks to BS EN 12453, then hands over a declaration of conformity and maintenance instructions. In workplaces, the employer or whoever controls the premises must keep doors maintained and safe for staff and visitors.

How it works

  1. Describe the fault

Tell us what the shutter is doing, the make if you know it, and send a photo or video.

  2. Engineer visit

An engineer inspects the shutter, finds the cause and makes it safe.

  3. Fixed repair price

You get the repair price before parts are fitted; simple fixes are often done on the first visit.

  4. Tested and reported

Limits and safety devices are checked, and you get a note of what was done.

Before you book in Montrose

Do you cover Montrose?

Yes. Send the postcode and we will arrange a survey in Montrose. We also cover nearby Arbroath and Forfar.

Is servicing a legal requirement?

In workplaces, the employer or person in control of the premises must keep powered doors maintained in efficient working order and safe for staff and the public. Regular servicing with a record is the practical way to show that.

How often should a roller shutter be serviced?

Most shop shutters benefit from a yearly service, and busy commercial or industrial doors usually need two or more visits a year. The manufacturer's instructions and your risk assessment set the frequency.

Can you service shutters across several sites?

Yes, we can schedule planned maintenance across multiple sites with one report format.

Is the survey free?

Yes, for new shutters, grilles and doors: the survey and written quote are free and there is no obligation to go ahead. Repair and servicing visits are charged, and we tell you the price before we visit.

Do you work with landlords and managing agents?

Yes. We quote, fit and service shutters for landlords, managing agents and facilities teams, including multi-site planned maintenance.
