Choosing shutter servicing & maintenance for premises in Newton-le-Willows
Small issues like worn bearings or loose fixings are cheaper to fix early than after a breakdown. Workplace regulations require the employer or person in control of the premises to keep doors and gates, including powered shutters, maintained in efficient working order.
A service record helps show insurers and inspectors that the shutter is looked after. Servicing can extend the life of motors and springs by keeping the curtain running freely.
Features to choose from
- Cleaning and lubrication of guides and bearings
- Safety edge and photocell testing
- Written report after every visit
- Spring tension and balance checks
- Full mechanical inspection
- Fixing and bracket checks

Safety of powered shutters
Powered doors and shutters are treated as machinery. The installer commissions them with a risk assessment, safety devices where the risk calls for them and force checks to BS EN 12453, then hands over a declaration of conformity and maintenance instructions. In workplaces, the employer or whoever controls the premises must keep doors maintained and safe for staff and visitors.
