Choosing shutter servicing & maintenance for premises in Selby

A service record helps show insurers and inspectors that the shutter is looked after. Each visit ends with a written report listing what was checked and anything that needs attention.

Servicing can extend the life of motors and springs by keeping the curtain running freely. Workplace regulations require the employer or person in control of the premises to keep doors and gates, including powered shutters, maintained in efficient working order.

Rules in England

Safety of powered shutters

Powered doors and shutters are treated as machinery. The installer commissions them with a risk assessment, safety devices where the risk calls for them and force checks to BS EN 12453, then hands over a declaration of conformity and maintenance instructions. In workplaces, the employer or whoever controls the premises must keep doors maintained and safe for staff and visitors.

How it works

  1. Describe the fault

Tell us what the shutter is doing, the make if you know it, and send a photo or video.

  2. Engineer visit

An engineer inspects the shutter, finds the cause and makes it safe.

  3. Fixed repair price

You get the repair price before parts are fitted; simple fixes are often done on the first visit.

  4. Tested and reported

Limits and safety devices are checked, and you get a note of what was done.

Questions about shutter servicing & maintenance in Selby

Do you cover Selby?

Yes. Selby (YO8) is within our North Yorkshire coverage, along with nearby Goole, Pontefract and Castleford.

How often should a roller shutter be serviced?

Most shop shutters benefit from a yearly service, and busy commercial or industrial doors usually need two or more visits a year. The manufacturer's instructions and your risk assessment set the frequency.

Is servicing a legal requirement?

In workplaces, the employer or person in control of the premises must keep powered doors maintained in efficient working order and safe for staff and the public. Regular servicing with a record is the practical way to show that.

Can you service shutters across several sites?

Yes, we can schedule planned maintenance across multiple sites with one report format.

Are your prices fixed?

Yes. After the survey you get a written price for the agreed specification, confirmed before anything is ordered or any work starts. If you change the specification, or a hidden problem such as a weak lintel is found during fitting, we price it and agree it with you before carrying on.

Do you work with landlords and managing agents?

Yes. We quote, fit and service shutters for landlords, managing agents and facilities teams, including multi-site planned maintenance.
