What to know about shutter servicing & maintenance in Kidsgrove

Busy commercial and industrial doors usually need servicing more often than a shop shutter used twice a day. A service covers the curtain, guides, barrel, springs, motor, limits, controls, locks and safety devices.

Multi-site and multi-shutter contracts can be scheduled together so every door is covered. A service record helps show insurers and inspectors that the shutter is looked after.

  • Cleaning and lubrication of guides and bearings

Jobs in Kidsgrove are planned as part of our Staffordshire coverage, and visits can be combined with jobs in nearby Congleton, Newcastle-under-Lyme and Longton. Planning rules are those of your local council in England.

Rules in England

Safety of powered shutters

Powered doors and shutters are treated as machinery. The installer commissions them with a risk assessment, safety devices where the risk calls for them and force checks to BS EN 12453, then hands over a declaration of conformity and maintenance instructions. In workplaces, the employer or whoever controls the premises must keep doors maintained and safe for staff and visitors.

How it works

  1. Describe the fault

Tell us what the shutter is doing, the make if you know it, and send a photo or video.

  2. Engineer visit

An engineer inspects the shutter, finds the cause and makes it safe.

  3. Fixed repair price

You get the repair price before parts are fitted; simple fixes are often done on the first visit.

  4. Tested and reported

Limits and safety devices are checked, and you get a note of what was done.

Shutter servicing & maintenance: common questions

Do you cover Kidsgrove?

Yes. Kidsgrove (ST7) is within our Staffordshire coverage, along with nearby Congleton, Newcastle-under-Lyme and Longton.

Is servicing a legal requirement?

In workplaces, the employer or person in control of the premises must keep powered doors maintained in efficient working order and safe for staff and the public. Regular servicing with a record is the practical way to show that.

Can you service shutters across several sites?

Yes, we can schedule planned maintenance across multiple sites with one report format.

How often should a roller shutter be serviced?

Most shop shutters benefit from a yearly service, and busy commercial or industrial doors usually need two or more visits a year. The manufacturer's instructions and your risk assessment set the frequency.

How long does it take from order to fitting?

Shutters are made to measure after the survey, so the lead time depends on the product, colour and any security rating. We confirm it in your quote.

Do you repair shutters fitted by other companies?

Yes. We repair and service most makes of roller shutter, grille and industrial door, whoever fitted them.
