What to know about shutter servicing & maintenance in Worcestershire

Busy commercial and industrial doors usually need servicing more often than a shop shutter used twice a day. A service record helps show insurers and inspectors that the shutter is looked after. Safety edges and photocells are tested so the shutter stops and reverses as it should.

Small issues like worn bearings or loose fixings are cheaper to fix early than after a breakdown. A service covers the curtain, guides, barrel, springs, motor, limits, controls, locks and safety devices.

Options we can specify

  • Full mechanical inspection
  • Multi-shutter and multi-site contracts
  • Fixing and bracket checks
  • Written report after every visit
  • Cleaning and lubrication of guides and bearings
  • Spring tension and balance checks

Rules in England

Safety of powered shutters

Powered doors and shutters are treated as machinery. The installer commissions them with a risk assessment, safety devices where the risk calls for them and force checks to BS EN 12453, then hands over a declaration of conformity and maintenance instructions. In workplaces, the employer or whoever controls the premises must keep doors maintained and safe for staff and visitors.

How it works

  1. Describe the fault

Tell us what the shutter is doing, the make if you know it, and send a photo or video.

  2. Engineer visit

An engineer inspects the shutter, finds the cause and makes it safe.

  3. Fixed repair price

You get the repair price before parts are fitted; simple fixes are often done on the first visit.

  4. Tested and reported

Limits and safety devices are checked, and you get a note of what was done.

Your questions answered

Can you service shutters across several sites?

Yes, we can schedule planned maintenance across multiple sites with one report format.

How often should a roller shutter be serviced?

Most shop shutters benefit from a yearly service, and busy commercial or industrial doors usually need two or more visits a year. The manufacturer's instructions and your risk assessment set the frequency.

What is checked on a service?

The curtain, guides, barrel, springs, motor, limits, controls, locks and safety devices, followed by a written report.

Can you fit outside trading hours?

Yes, out-of-hours fitting can be arranged for shops and businesses that cannot close during the day.

Do your guide prices include VAT?

Guide prices are shown both excluding VAT and including VAT at the standard rate of 20%. For a home, the price including VAT is what you pay.
