Fire shutters in Leighton Buzzard: the essentials
The rating has to match the fire strategy for the wall the shutter sits in, which is set by the building's fire design. Product certification and test evidence come from the manufacturer, and we provide the documentation with the shutter.
A fire shutter that sticks or closes too slowly may not protect the opening, which is why drop tests matter. Escape routes and the effect of the shutter closing are checked against the fire strategy before ordering.
Specification options
- Alarm-linked closing with fusible link backup
- Counter, hatch and large-opening versions
- Governed closing speed for safety
- Planned servicing to keep it compliant
- Manufacturer's test evidence and certification
- Fire resistance from 60 to 240 minutes, product dependent

Rules in England

Before you book in Leighton Buzzard
Do you cover Leighton Buzzard?
Yes. We survey, fit and repair fire shutters in Leighton Buzzard and the LU7 district, as part of our coverage across Bedfordshire.
What rating do I need?
The rating must match the fire-resisting wall the shutter is in, which is set by the building's fire strategy or fire risk assessment. We work from that, or from your fire engineer's specification.
Will a fire shutter close in a power cut?
Fire shutters are designed to close on loss of power or on a fire signal, usually by gravity with a governed speed, so they fail safe.
Do you certify fire shutters?
The fire rating belongs to the manufacturer's tested product. We supply certified shutters with their documentation and install them to the manufacturer's instructions.
Will you take away my old shutter?
Yes. Removal and disposal of an old shutter is included when we quote for a replacement.
What details help you quote quickly?
The postcode, the approximate width and height of the opening, whether you want manual or electric operation, and a photo of the frontage.
