Garage roller doors in New Malden: the essentials

Colours are chosen to match front doors and windows, with anthracite, white and woodgrain finishes common. Domestic garage doors are covered by the same powered door safety standard as commercial doors.

Remote fobs are standard on most electric garage doors, with wall switches and app control as options. The box needs a little headroom inside the garage, which is checked at survey.

Specification options

  • Manual override for power cuts
  • Remote fobs, wall switch and app options
  • Safety edge and obstacle detection

Where we work around New Malden

Jobs in New Malden are planned as part of our Greater London coverage, and visits can be combined with jobs in nearby Surbiton, Morden and Wimbledon. Planning rules are those of your local council in England.

Rules in England

Shutters on a house: planning

For houses in England some small external changes fall under permitted development, but flats and maisonettes do not have the same rights, and listed buildings, conservation areas and Article 4 directions restrict changes to a property's appearance. If any of these apply, check with your council before ordering.

How it works

  1. Send the details

Give us the postcode, approximate width and height, and what the shutter is protecting.

  2. We survey the opening

An engineer measures and checks the fixings, power and any planning constraints.

  3. You approve a fixed price

The quote lists the specification and price in writing, so there are no surprises.

  4. We fit and commission

Your shutter is installed, tested and handed over with instructions and paperwork.

Garage roller doors: common questions

Do you cover New Malden?

Yes. New Malden (KT3) is within our Greater London coverage, along with nearby Surbiton, Morden and Wimbledon.

How much headroom does a roller garage door need?

The box needs some space above the opening inside or outside the garage. Exact clearance depends on the door height and curtain, so we measure it at survey.

What safety features do garage roller doors have?

Electric doors should stop and reverse on contact, using a safety edge or obstacle detection, and have a manual override for power cuts.

Can a roller door replace my up-and-over door?

Yes, usually without changing the opening. We check the headroom and side space at survey to choose the right fixing position.

Do your guide prices include VAT?

Guide prices are shown both excluding VAT and including VAT at the standard rate of 20%. For a home, the price including VAT is what you pay.

What details help you quote quickly?

The postcode, the approximate width and height of the opening, whether you want manual or electric operation, and a photo of the frontage.
