High-speed doors in Gainsborough: the essentials

High-speed doors open and close much faster than roller shutters, so the opening spends less time open. Regular servicing keeps the sensors and safety devices working correctly on such a busy door.

Radar, induction loops and pull cords open the door automatically as traffic approaches. Light curtains in the frame stop the curtain closing if anything is in the opening.

Specification options

  • Radar, loop, pull-cord and push-button activation
  • Vision strips for safe traffic flow
  • Fast-acting PVC fabric curtain
  • Pairs with a roller shutter for security
  • Light curtain safety protection
  • Internal, external and cold-store versions

Rules in England

Safety of powered shutters

Powered doors and shutters are treated as machinery. The installer commissions them with a risk assessment, safety devices where the risk calls for them and force checks to BS EN 12453, then hands over a declaration of conformity and maintenance instructions. In workplaces, the employer or whoever controls the premises must keep doors maintained and safe for staff and visitors.

How it works

  1. Send the details

Give us the postcode, approximate width and height, and what the shutter is protecting.

  2. We survey the opening

An engineer measures and checks the fixings, power and any planning constraints.

  3. You approve a fixed price

The quote lists the specification and price in writing, so there are no surprises.

  4. We fit and commission

Your shutter is installed, tested and handed over with instructions and paperwork.

Questions about high-speed doors in Gainsborough

Do you cover Gainsborough?

Yes. Send the postcode and we will arrange a survey in Gainsborough. We also cover nearby Retford, Scunthorpe and Worksop.

How fast do they open?

High-speed doors open in a few seconds, much faster than a roller shutter. The exact speed depends on the model and size.

What happens if a forklift hits the curtain?

On many models the curtain pops out of its guides and re-feeds itself on the next cycle, which avoids the damage a steel shutter would suffer.

Is a high-speed door secure?

Not on its own. The fabric curtain is for traffic and environmental control, so it is often paired with a roller shutter that closes out of hours.

What warranty do I get?

Products carry the manufacturer's warranty, and the warranty for your shutter is set out in your quote.

Do you work with landlords and managing agents?

Yes. We quote, fit and service shutters for landlords, managing agents and facilities teams, including multi-site planned maintenance.
