Choosing high-speed doors for premises in Retford

The fabric curtain can be pushed out of its guides by an impact and re-inserted automatically on many models, reducing damage. Regular servicing keeps the sensors and safety devices working correctly on such a busy door.

Insulated and cold-store versions are available for temperature-controlled areas. High-speed doors are often fitted inside an insulated roller shutter, which provides security out of hours.

What's included

  • Internal, external and cold-store versions
  • Pairs with a roller shutter for security
  • High daily cycle rating
  • Self-repairing curtain on many models
  • Radar, loop, pull-cord and push-button activation
  • Fast-acting PVC fabric curtain

Where we work around Retford

Jobs in Retford are planned as part of our Nottinghamshire coverage, and visits can be combined with jobs in nearby Worksop, Gainsborough and Doncaster. Planning rules are those of your local council in England.

Rules in England

Safety of powered shutters

Powered doors and shutters are treated as machinery. The installer commissions them with a risk assessment, safety devices where the risk calls for them and force checks to BS EN 12453, then hands over a declaration of conformity and maintenance instructions. In workplaces, the employer or whoever controls the premises must keep doors maintained and safe for staff and visitors.

How it works

  1. Send the details

Give us the postcode, approximate width and height, and what the shutter is protecting.

  2. We survey the opening

An engineer measures and checks the fixings, power and any planning constraints.

  3. You approve a fixed price

The quote lists the specification and price in writing, so there are no surprises.

  4. We fit and commission

Your shutter is installed, tested and handed over with instructions and paperwork.

Your questions answered

Do you cover Retford?

Yes. Retford (DN22) is within our Nottinghamshire coverage, along with nearby Worksop, Gainsborough and Doncaster.

What happens if a forklift hits the curtain?

On many models the curtain pops out of its guides and re-feeds itself on the next cycle, which avoids the damage a steel shutter would suffer.

Do high-speed doors save energy?

They reduce the time an opening stands open, which cuts heat loss and draughts on busy doors.

How fast do they open?

High-speed doors open in a few seconds, much faster than a roller shutter. The exact speed depends on the model and size.

Are your prices fixed?

Yes. After the survey you get a written price for the agreed specification, confirmed before anything is ordered or any work starts. If you change the specification, or a hidden problem such as a weak lintel is found during fitting, we price it and agree it with you before carrying on.

Will you take away my old shutter?

Yes. Removal and disposal of an old shutter is included when we quote for a replacement.
