High-speed doors in Rushden: the essentials

They are designed for very high numbers of cycles a day, which a standard roller shutter is not. High-speed doors are often fitted inside an insulated roller shutter, which provides security out of hours.

Regular servicing keeps the sensors and safety devices working correctly on such a busy door. Food, pharmaceutical and cold-store sites use them to keep zones separate.

What's included

  • Fast-acting PVC fabric curtain
  • High daily cycle rating
  • Self-repairing curtain on many models
  • Vision strips for safe traffic flow
  • Pairs with a roller shutter for security
  • Radar, loop, pull-cord and push-button activation

Rules in England

Safety of powered shutters

Powered doors and shutters are treated as machinery. The installer commissions them with a risk assessment, safety devices where the risk calls for them and force checks to BS EN 12453, then hands over a declaration of conformity and maintenance instructions. In workplaces, the employer or whoever controls the premises must keep doors maintained and safe for staff and visitors.

How it works

  1. Send the details

Give us the postcode, approximate width and height, and what the shutter is protecting.

  2. We survey the opening

An engineer measures and checks the fixings, power and any planning constraints.

  3. You approve a fixed price

The quote lists the specification and price in writing, so there are no surprises.

  4. We fit and commission

Your shutter is installed, tested and handed over with instructions and paperwork.

Questions about high-speed doors in Rushden

Do you cover Rushden?

Yes. Rushden (NN10) is within our Northamptonshire coverage, along with nearby Wellingborough, Kettering and Bedford.

Is a high-speed door secure?

Not on its own. The fabric curtain is for traffic and environmental control, so it is often paired with a roller shutter that closes out of hours.

What happens if a forklift hits the curtain?

On many models the curtain pops out of its guides and re-feeds itself on the next cycle, which avoids the damage a steel shutter would suffer.

Do high-speed doors save energy?

They reduce the time an opening stands open, which cuts heat loss and draughts on busy doors.

Do your guide prices include VAT?

Guide prices are shown both excluding VAT and including VAT at the standard rate of 20%. For a home, the price including VAT is what you pay.

Can I get a quote from photos?

Photos and approximate sizes let us give you a guide price quickly. A survey is still needed before a shutter is made, because it is built to exact measurements.
