What to know about insulated roller shutters in Wellingborough

Insulated curtains are heavier than single-skin aluminium, so the motor and barrel are sized to suit. Insulated laths also deaden sound, which helps workshops near homes and units with noisy processes.

Vision laths can be included so staff can see outside without opening the door. They can be made in steel or aluminium, and powder coated to match cladding.

Features to choose from

  • Motors sized to the heavier curtain
  • Steel or aluminium skins
  • Less condensation on the inside face
  • Vision laths available
  • Powder coated to match cladding
  • Brush and rubber seals all round

Rules in England

Safety of powered shutters

Powered doors and shutters are treated as machinery. The installer commissions them with a risk assessment, safety devices where the risk calls for them and force checks to BS EN 12453, then hands over a declaration of conformity and maintenance instructions. In workplaces, the employer or whoever controls the premises must keep doors maintained and safe for staff and visitors.

How it works

  1. Send the details

Give us the postcode, approximate width and height, and what the shutter is protecting.

  2. We survey the opening

An engineer measures and checks the fixings, power and any planning constraints.

  3. You approve a fixed price

The quote lists the specification and price in writing, so there are no surprises.

  4. We fit and commission

Your shutter is installed, tested and handed over with instructions and paperwork.

Before you book in Wellingborough

Do you cover Wellingborough?

Yes. Wellingborough (NN8) is within our Northamptonshire coverage, along with nearby Rushden, Kettering and Corby.

Do insulated shutters need a bigger box?

Yes, slightly, because the thicker laths make a larger roll. We measure the space above the opening at survey.

How much heat does an insulated shutter save?

It depends on the door size, how often it is open and how the building is heated. The manufacturer's thermal figures show the difference between insulated and single-skin curtains, and we include them with your quote.

Are insulated shutters more secure?

The double skin adds some strength, but insulation is about heat and noise. For tested security, look at steel or LPS 1175 rated shutters.

What warranty do I get?

Products carry the manufacturer's warranty, and the warranty for your shutter is set out in your quote.

Do your guide prices include VAT?

Guide prices are shown both excluding VAT and including VAT at the standard rate of 20%. For a home, the price including VAT is what you pay.
