What to know about LPS 1175 high-security shutters in Redruth

Where the structure around the opening is weak, it may need strengthening for the rating to mean anything in practice. Your insurer may name a minimum rating in your policy, so check the schedule before choosing a product.

Other test standards such as STS 202 and BS EN 1627 are also used, and we can source products to the one you need. Higher ratings mean heavier curtains, stronger guides and locking, and fixings into suitable structure.

  • Electric operation with override
  • Certificate reference provided with your quote

Rules in England

Electrical work

Electric shutters are wired to BS 7671, the IET Wiring Regulations. In homes in England, new circuits are notifiable under Part P of the Building Regulations, so the work is done by a registered electrician who can self-certify it, or notified to building control.

How it works

  1. Send the details

Give us the postcode, approximate width and height, and what the shutter is protecting.

  2. We survey the opening

An engineer measures and checks the fixings, power and any planning constraints.

  3. You approve a fixed price

The quote lists the specification and price in writing, so there are no surprises.

  4. We fit and commission

Your shutter is installed, tested and handed over with instructions and paperwork.

Before you book in Redruth

Do you cover Redruth?

Yes. Send the postcode and we will arrange a survey in Redruth. We also cover nearby Camborne, Falmouth and Newquay.

What does an LPS 1175 rating like B3 mean?

In Issue 8, the letter is the threat level, meaning the tools and number of attackers the product was tested against, and the number is the minimum delay in minutes. B3 means threat level B with at least three minutes' delay.

Is SR2 the same as B3?

The two systems are different, but as a rough guide SR1 corresponds to A1, SR2 to B3 and SR3 to C5. Your insurer's wording tells you which version they require.

Does my insurer need a rated shutter?

Some policies specify a minimum rating for certain trades or stock values. Check your policy schedule, or send it to us and we will match the product to it.

How long does it take from order to fitting?

Shutters are made to measure after the survey, so the lead time depends on the product, colour and any security rating. We confirm it in your quote.

What warranty do I get?

Products carry the manufacturer's warranty, and the warranty for your shutter is set out in your quote.
