What to know about roller grilles in Acton
Brick-bond, tubular and link patterns give different levels of visibility and strength. Grilles can be combined with a solid section at the base for kick protection.
Wide grilles use intermediate posts or a stronger curtain to resist being pushed in. Roller grilles roll into a box like a shutter, and can be manual or electric.
What's included
- Suited to shopping centre unit fronts

Rules in England
Electrical work
Electric shutters are wired to BS 7671, the IET Wiring Regulations. In homes in England, new circuits are notifiable under Part P of the Building Regulations, so the work is done by a registered electrician who can self-certify it, or notified to building control.

Your questions answered
Do you cover Acton?
Yes. Acton (W3) is within our Greater London coverage, along with nearby Chiswick, Shepherds Bush and Willesden.
Can things be passed through a grille?
Small items can pass through an open lattice. Polycarbonate infill panels close the gaps if that is a concern.
Is a roller grille or a perforated shutter better?
A grille gives far more visibility and airflow, while a perforated shutter gives more privacy and weather protection. Shopping centres often specify grilles; high streets use both.
Do roller grilles need planning permission?
External roller grilles usually need planning permission like other external security. Councils often find them more acceptable than solid shutters.
What warranty do I get?
Products carry the manufacturer's warranty, and the warranty for your shutter is set out in your quote.
Is the survey free?
Yes, for new shutters, grilles and doors: the survey and written quote are free and there is no obligation to go ahead. Repair and servicing visits are charged, and we tell you the price before we visit.
