What to know about roller grilles in Altrincham

Aluminium grilles are lighter and suit large unit fronts; steel grilles add strength. A clear-anodised or powder-coated finish keeps a grille looking smart.

Grilles can be combined with a solid section at the base for kick protection. Wide grilles use intermediate posts or a stronger curtain to resist being pushed in.

Options we can specify

  • Optional polycarbonate infill
  • Aluminium or steel curtains
  • Brick-bond, tubular or link lattice
  • Solid kick panel option
  • Suited to shopping centre unit fronts
  • Removable intermediate posts for wide units

Rules in England

Electrical work

Electric shutters are wired to BS 7671, the IET Wiring Regulations. In homes in England, new circuits are notifiable under Part P of the Building Regulations, so the work is done by a registered electrician who can self-certify it, or notified to building control.

Before you book in Altrincham

Do you cover Altrincham?

Yes. We survey, fit and repair roller grilles in Altrincham and the WA14 district, as part of our coverage across Greater Manchester.

Is a roller grille or a perforated shutter better?

A grille gives far more visibility and airflow, while a perforated shutter gives more privacy and weather protection. Shopping centres often specify grilles; high streets use both.

Do roller grilles need planning permission?

External roller grilles usually need planning permission like other external security. Councils often find them more acceptable than solid shutters.

Can a grille cover a very wide unit?

Yes, with a stronger curtain or removable intermediate posts to keep it rigid.

Are your prices fixed?

Yes. After the survey you get a written price for the agreed specification, confirmed before anything is ordered or any work starts. If you change the specification, or a hidden problem such as a weak lintel is found during fitting, we price it and agree it with you before carrying on.

Do you repair shutters fitted by other companies?

Yes. We repair and service most makes of roller shutter, grille and industrial door, whoever fitted them.
