Roller grilles in Folkestone: the essentials

An open curtain lets air and light through, so displays stay on view and the unit does not look closed down. Grilles can be combined with a solid section at the base for kick protection.

Councils often see roller grilles as more acceptable than solid shutters in town centres. Roller grilles roll into a box like a shutter, and can be manual or electric.

What's included

  • Solid kick panel option
  • Suited to shopping centre unit fronts
  • Anodised or powder-coated finishes
  • Optional polycarbonate infill
  • Aluminium or steel curtains
  • Removable intermediate posts for wide units

Rules in England

Safety of powered shutters

Powered doors and shutters are treated as machinery. The installer commissions them with a risk assessment, safety devices where the risk calls for them and force checks to BS EN 12453, then hands over a declaration of conformity and maintenance instructions. In workplaces, the employer or whoever controls the premises must keep doors maintained and safe for staff and visitors.

How it works

  1. Send the details

Give us the postcode, approximate width and height, and what the shutter is protecting.

  2. We survey the opening

An engineer measures and checks the fixings, power and any planning constraints.

  3. You approve a fixed price

The quote lists the specification and price in writing, so there are no surprises.

  4. We fit and commission

Your shutter is installed, tested and handed over with instructions and paperwork.

Questions about roller grilles in Folkestone

Do you cover Folkestone?

Yes. Folkestone (CT19) is within our Kent coverage, along with nearby Dover, Ashford (Kent) and Deal.

Can things be passed through a grille?

Small items can pass through an open lattice. Polycarbonate infill panels close the gaps if that is a concern.

Can a grille cover a very wide unit?

Yes, with a stronger curtain or removable intermediate posts to keep it rigid.

Is a roller grille or a perforated shutter better?

A grille gives far more visibility and airflow, while a perforated shutter gives more privacy and weather protection. Shopping centres often specify grilles; high streets use both.

Can I get a quote from photos?

Photos and approximate sizes let us give you a guide price quickly. A survey is still needed before a shutter is made, because it is built to exact measurements.

Are your prices fixed?

Yes. After the survey you get a written price for the agreed specification, confirmed before anything is ordered or any work starts. If you change the specification, or a hidden problem such as a weak lintel is found during fitting, we price it and agree it with you before carrying on.
